Naturally beautiful place Paiyunkot is located in Mahashila Municipality of Parbat district of Nepal. Also known as Charpal Kot, it is equally important from religious, cultural, historical and geographical perspectives.
The Kalikadevi temple in its Pagoda style is one of the major attractions for the pilgrims and other visitors here. It harbors old weapons, swords and knives believed to have spiritual power. There is the tradition that on the day of Maha Nawami, Purohitas from Magar as well as Sen Community go fasting, put on traditional clean and sacred costume, perform worshipping with their cultural dance carrying those weapons around the temple. People from other communities like Rijal, Khawas, Chaudhary Newars, Shrestha Newars and Kafle perform their designated roles in the performance of the ceremony held at different occasions at the temple and around this area. The performance looks really interesting.
From the Paiyunkot hill, the visitors can observe the scenery of beautiful valleys, hills, rivers and woods in the distance. One can enjoy amazing watching sunrise, chin-dropping long water falls on the steep hills, lavish green forests and beautiful farms and laborious farmers working around the Paiyunkot hill. With the opportunities of adventure tourism like paragliding, rock climbing, hiking, climbing and others, the place is like a gem still to be identified to the national as well as international visitors having passions of enjoying varieties of cultural, social as well as religious performances at the same place.
